A good egg

This lunchtime I had a voiceover session in an advertising agency around Leicester square. I arrived early and had ten minutes to spare. On a slightly empty stomach, I thought it would help my general relaxation -and voice- to swallow a little something. That’s when I passed Le Beaujolais and remembered that this French wine bar always has hard boiled eggs on the counter! It is a very old tradition found in a lot of cafés in France, although nowadays it isn’t as common as it used to be. Pity… But I was glad to stumble on it in London. I sat down at the counter for 1 minute, peeled an egg, sprinkled it with celery salt, ate it, paid £1 and left. Just what I needed. Thank you!

Le Beaujolais obviously offers more copious meals to accompany their selection of wines and if you are not in a hurry, like I was, this cozy bar is definitely worth a longer visit.
